Though they've improved since their 1-4 start, trade rumors continue to circulate around the Los Angeles Lakers and supposedly the Lakers front office is still possibly continuing a future without Pau Gasol as their starting power forward.
Gasol continues to be mentioned in trade rumors because of his apparent difficulty to fit in the system implemented by coach Mike D'Antoni.
Rumor has it that now the Lakers may be considering a possibly trade for Ryan Anderson of the New Orleans Hornets.
Anderson would give the Lakers extra spacing on the floor given his ability to drain mid and long-range jump shots. Anderson is one of the league's best sharp shooters, and what makes is worth more valuable is he is also a decent big man who can give you double-digit rebounds.
The reigning NBA's Most Improved Player is coming off a career year with 16.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while shooting 39 percent from beyond the arc for the Orlando Magic.
In 15 games for the Hornets thus far, Anderson is already making an impression with career-high numbers across the board shooting 42 percent from deep while averaging 17.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game.
Anderson is an intriguing option for the Lakers because he can run the floor, something that's necessary in D'Antoni run offense, and he's spent three season's playing with Dwight Howard, in which both players were successful.
Anderson has a deal comparable to Gasol's, but with three years on his contract opposed to Gasol's one year remaining.
A trade between the two can possibly occur, but it's also believed that the Lakers may be waiting for the return of Steve Nash to see if he can jump-start Gasol.
