Chelsea are looking to move in for Napoli's dynamic playmaker Marek Hamsik. The Slovakian international has been linked with a move to Chelsea in the past, and the Blues are now looking to firm up their interest in the talented 25-year-old, according to the Daily Express.
Chelsea have a triumvirate of midfielders who are the envy of the rest of the teams in the English Premier League as well as Europe.
Oscar, Juan Mata and Eden Hazard are a trio of young playmakers that at the beginning of the season set the Premier League alight, and add Victor Moses and Marko Marin, the Blues are not exactly short in the playmaking department.
How much Chelsea need a player like Hamsik can be questioned greatly, with the Blues enriched with ball playing midfielders - similar to how Hamsik plays.
While there is no doubting the fact that the Napoli player can fit into any team, Chelsea might not be the most appealing one for the Slovakian considering the competition he will face just for a starting spot.
Chelsea are definitely struggling for form right now, with Hazard in particular, fading alarmingly from his early season exploits, where he was central to every single Chelsea attack. A move for Hamsik, however, is unlikely, considering Chelsea's need to add a striker, rather than a playmaker, with Hamsik's teammate Edinson Cavani a likelier option, as Fernando Torres continues to struggle.
Meanwhile, Blues target Diego Reyes could make a move in January after his club's manager Miguel Herrera admitted the chances of keeping his player with Club America are slim.
The 20-year-old defender impressed all of Europe by putting in impressive performances during Mexico's gold medal run in the London Olympics.
"It will be very difficult to keep him here because there are many offers from Europe and he has said he wants to leave to continue his growth in Europe," Herrera told ESPN Radio Formula. "Our idea is to keep him here until June 2013 but anything can happen. This will depend on the number of bids and the amount offered."
