Despite Fernando Torres finally finding form for Chelsea, the Blues have not stopped in their hunt for a high-quality striker in January, with Gonzalo Higuain added to Roman Abramovich's wishlist along with Radamel Falcao.

Chelsea's interest in Falcao is well known, and according to the Sunday Telegraph, Abramovich's assistant Marina Granovskaia has flown in to Madrid to see if she can broker a deal for either the Atletico Madrid striker or Real Madrid's Higuain.

Falcao has been in stellar form for Atletico this season, and on Sunday scored an amazing five goals in a 6-0 rout of Deportivo.

While the Colombian international has repeatedly said he will only consider making a move at the end of the season, Chelsea are confident Atletico, who are in serious debt, will be forced to sell if they put in a considerable sum.

Falcao has a buyout clause of £48 million ($77 million), an amount similar to the one Abramovich paid Liverpool for Torres.

However, reports in Spain suggest Falcao's most likely destination is Atletico's Madrid rivals Real, meaning a move for Higuain is more likely. Falcao reportedly prefers a move to Real, and with Higuain already second choice to Karim Benzema in the center forward position, he will be open to a move to Stamford Bridge if a bid is made.

Chelsea are in desperate need of a central striker, with Torres their only real option currently, as Daniel Sturridge, who is yet to convince in the position, is expected to leave the club in the January transfer window.

While Torres seems to have found his old touch, taking his performances in the last two games, a striker of the quality of Falcao or Higuain can be the difference maker in the push for an English Premier League title, with Chelsea already ten points behind leaders Manchester United.

Chelsea are also considering making a bid for Newcastle striker Demba Ba, who has a considerably less release clause of £7 million ($11 million). Arsenal are the frontrunners for Ba's signature, but Chelsea might make a move for the Newcastle man if they are unable to sign either Falcao or Higuain.
