Robert Griffin III Suffers From Mild Knee Sprain, Listed As Day-To-Day

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that quarterback Robert Griffin III has a Grade 1 sprain to his right knee and now describes the quarterbacks injury as day-to-day.

Shanahan said the MRI showed a Grade 1 sprain to Griffin's lateral collateral ligament but showed no signs of structural damage to the knee.

Shanahan said Griffin has mild swelling and is receiving treatment multiple times a day, but when questions came on whether or not Griffin would be able to participate in Wednesday's team practice, Shanahan said, "I really don't know." He said, however, he's "definitely not ruling him out" for Sunday's game against the Cleveland Browns.

Griffin was injured in the final minutes of regulation in the Redskins' 31-28 overtime win over the Baltimore Ravens.

"I'm not a doctor, but I know what an ACL feels like," Griffin said Sunday. "And it doesn't feel like an ACL. ... If I felt that, I'd be pretty nervous. But we won the game, everybody's praying for me, I feel pretty good right now about the whole situation. I'm not too nervous, but I'll definitely be praying during the MRI."

While he was being worked on by trainers on the sideline, Redskins backup quarterback Kirk Cousins entered and threw an 11-yard touchdown pass to Pierre Garcon with 29 seconds left. Cousins then ran in a 2-point conversion to tie the score 28-28, and the teams headed to overtime.

The Redskins are 7-6 and have won four straight.
