With the La Liga title slowly but surely slipping out of their hands, Real Madrid will be keen to continue their march in the Copa Del Rey when they travel to Celta Vigo for the first leg of the pre-quarterfinals.
Real scored a hard fought win over Real Valladolid at the weekend in the La Liga, but saw the distance between themselves and rivals Barcelona remain at 11 points.
With Barca set to take on Atletico Madrid in the league on Sunday, Real will be keen to build some momentum leading to what could be a crucial weekend.
"Celta are a team that know how to play well," Real assistant manager Aitor Karanka said. "The other day in the San Mames they played a good game even though in the end the match went Athletic's way.
"They are worthy opponents and the objective is to make sure we play just as well. We have the return leg at the Bernabeu and so we will do our utmost to ensure that the team turns in a good performance to get the result. We believe in fighting to the end for every game and for every title that is up for grabs.
Karanka insisted Real had not given up on retaining their Spanish league title.
"As someone who is part of this club and knows the coaching team as I do, I can tell you that we are going after every single title and every single game every match day, whether it's the League, the Copa del Rey or the Champions League," he said.
"This is how we roll, this is how we go into every game in the cup since we have been here, we are confident that we can win every game and get a good result without prioritizing any one competition above the others.
"Here we fight for every match and for every title, so we will keep trying to the end and while there is a mathematical possibility of winning we will give it our best shot."
Vilanova revealed Fabio Coentrao had returned to training but would not be risked against Celta, with Marcelo still out injured.
