Arsenal Transfer News: Demba Ba Wants to Seal 'Dream' Move to Arsenal

Newcastle forward Demba Ba as good as admitted he would like to play for Arsenal, by saying playing for a club like the Gunners makes him "dream."

Arsenal are in desperate need of reinforcements in January, following an underwhelming start to the season.

With just Olivier Giroud in their books as their center forward - Marouane Chamakh is well down the pecking order at Arsenal, so much so that Arsene Wenger prefers using Gervinho down the middle to playing Chamkah - the Gunners are in the market for a new striker.

Klass-Jan Huntelaar, Edinson Cavani and Demba Ba have been widely tipped, with the latter having a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave for a mere £7 million ($11.3 million).

"Arsenal are one of these teams who make you dream," Ba told Canal+.

"I have nothing to say about the speculation. Nothing is about to happen.

"The press know Arsenal need another striker and also know about my release clause, and make their own mind up about it."

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has repeated expressed his concerns over losing his top scorer, who has already netted 11 goals this season.

Arsenal are in desperate need of a proven goalscorer, someone who will get you goals in the English Premier League, after Arsenal's lack of potency in front of goal came out starkly in recent games.

The Gunners have struggled to replace Van Persie, and the prolific amount of goals he scored last season, with Giroud, while looking promising, not having the same strike rate to keep Arsenal right up there with the frontrunners.

Ba has proven himself over the last couple of years as a goalscorer in the Premier League, but there remains one concern, and that is his suspect knees. Ba failed a medical at Stoke a couple of years back owing to the bad knees, before Newcastle decided to take a punt on the striker.

The problem is believed to be chronic and it is something that might put off Wenger, even though at £7 million ($11.3 million), he is hardly expensive.

Another bright aspect that comes from Ba's statements is that, despite all the negative press lately, Arsenal are still a desired destination for a lot of players.

Now it is just a matter of finding the right quality.
