Manchester United Transfer Rumours: Sir Alex Wants David Moyes as His Successor; Roma Looking to Make a Move for Nani

Sir Alex Ferguson is eyeing Everton manager David Moyes as his replacement at Manchester United, when he decides to call it a day.

The topic of the next United manager has intensified off late, with Ferguson admitting his incredible career at Old Trafford might be coming to an end soon, although there might be still a few years left in the enigmatic Scot.

While Pep Guardiola has been tipped to take over from Ferguson, according to the Daily Express, the Scot prefers his fellow countryman Moyes for the job, with Jose Mourinho the second-choice ahead of Guardiola.

While Ferguson admires the former Barcelona manager's capabilities, who he is reportedly set to meet in New York next week, he believes someone with prior experience of managing in the English Premier League would be better suited to take over the top job at United.

Moyes is a very good friend of Sir Alex, and the United manager has hinted several times in the past that the Everton boss, who has kept the Toffees relevant at the top half of the table despite being on a shoe-string budget, could be the man for the job in the future.

"The talk about Manchester United appointing Guardiola is a little premature," a source close to the club told the Daily Express.

"He actually has two preferred choices -- David Moyes and Jose Mourinho.

"Moyes and Fergie are close and Fergie begrudgingly admires how Moyes has 'outfoxed' him and many other teams over the years.

"Fergie admires Jose greatly but there are concerns that Jose's manner and media links could make him become bigger than the club."

Meanwhile, Nani is being closely monitored by Roma with the Italian club keen to make a move in January if the winger was made available.

The United midfielder has seen talks over a new contract stall, leading to suggestions he could be on his way out of Old Trafford, with Arsenal also recently linked with a move.

However, Roma have now joined the race for the Portuguese international, whose current deal with United expires in 2014.

Roma manager Zdenek Zeman is an admirer of Nani's talents, although it remains to be seen whether the Italians would be willing to offer the reported fee of £20 million ($32.4 million).
