The future surrounding Raheem Sterling could be at an end, with the winger reportedly on the verge of agreeing a lucrative new five-year contract with Liverpool.
Sterling's future has been put on hold at Liverpool for a few months now with the 18-year-old stalling on a new deal with the Reds, with his current contract set to expire in 2014.
Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City were reportedly keen on taking advantage of the contract situation by putting in bids in January, but Liverpool have now agreed on a deal worth £30,000 a week plus add-ons, according to goal.com.
Brendan Rodgers kept saying he has no doubts about the fact that Sterling will sign a new deal with the club, and if the report turns out to be true, the Liverpool manager will be ecstatic to secure the future of one of his most talented players.
Meanwhile, Rodgers said he would look to bring in reinforcement in the January transfer window with a striker, and a playmaker his priorities.
"There is no doubt we will get reinforcements in January and there is no doubt that we will get the backing, but it will come down to two things -- the availability and affordability of players," Rodgers told reporters.
"I see lots of names bandied about and, with all due respect, names that are pie in the sky because there won't be too many top players moving about in January because clubs want top money.
"But there is no doubt that we want to bring in goals and we want to bring in players who can assist in scoring goals.
"If we can do that then that will set us up and then we can really reinforce again when the market opens up in the summer."
Liverpool have been linked with several forwards, with the likes of Darren Bent, Shane Long, Theo Walcott, and Bafetimbi Gomis reportedly on the club's radar.
A deal for Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge and Blackpool's Thomas Ince has already reportedly been agreed with the duo set to join the club as soon as the transfer window opens.
