The news that most Arsenal fans have been craving for could be on the horizon, with Schalke forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar reportedly opening formal talks with Arsenal over a move in January.
Huntelaar is out of contract in the summer, and could make a cut-price move to North London, with Schalke only demanding a £6 million ($9.7 million) fee for the Dutch international forward.
Arsenal have been in pole position to land the 29-year-old ever since it became clear that the striker would be available in the January transfer window, after failing to agree a new contract with Schalke.
That now seems to be a reality, with The Times claiming Arsenal have started formal talks over a deal for Huntelaar. The Dutch international is demanding a salary of £100,000 a week ($162,000) to go along with a three-year contract.
Lukas Podolski and Andrey Arshavin are currently Arsenal's highest earners on around £90,000 a week ($146,000); meaning if Arsenal were to agree to meet Huntelaar's demands, it would make the prolific striker the club's highest earner.
There is no doubt that Arsenal could use a quality striker up front, capable of creating the half chances, constantly created by the Gunners, into goals, and while Huntelaar hasn't proven himself in the English Premier League before, there is hardly any doubt that the Dutchman would be a quality addition to the squad.
Another player that Arsenal have been heavily linked with is Demba Ba, with the Gunners also reportedly holding informal talks with the striker's representatives.
The aspect in favor of Ba is the fact that he has proven himself in the Premier League with Newcastle and would roughly cost the same as Huntelaar, owing to his £7 million ($11 million) release clause.
Ba is also a couple of years younger than Huntelaar, another point in favor of the Senegal international. The 27-year-old recently admitted it would be a dream to move to a club like Arsenal.
However, it is believed the Gunners are more likely to go for Huntelaar, with Ba as their backup option, as Arsene Wenger looks to add more potency into his attack.
Wenger believes Huntelaar, with his wide experience, will provide more of a threat up front than Ba, and the Arsenal manager was extremely impressed with what he saw when the Dutchman scored two goals against the Gunners in the Champions League.
So, what do the Arsenal fans think? Is Huntelaar the man for the Gunners or is Ba the better option?
