After suffering a humiliating 8-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea, Aston Villa will look to get back on track when they take on a Tottenham side in desperate need of a win to get back into the top four.

Villa, who are in 16th on 18 points, were torn apart by the Blues in a dominating display and manager Paul Lambert will have to find a way to imbibe confidence in his players, and point towards the 3-1 win over Liverpool a couple of weeks back as proof of their capabilities.

Spurs, meanwhile, will look to bounce back from a disappointing 0-0 draw with Stoke City, a result which pushed them down to sixth place from fourth. Spurs are currently level on points with Arsenal and Everton, but behind them in the table on goal difference.

Lambert is looking for a reaction from his players to atone for the loss to Chelsea. "You analyse it," Lambert said. "But you can't overanalyse it otherwise it will drag you right down. You get to a point where you have to let it go.

"I will think about it for the next few days but we have another game coming up for us to rectify that. How do we get over it? We just go out and try to win the next game.

"There's no magic formula. You just go out and try to win. It's how we react -- that's a good marker of a good team, how we react to it. The fans have been right behind us, even against Chelsea. They will come in their thousands against Tottenham."

Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker, who spent the second half of the 2010-11 season on loan at Villa Park, is confident of getting a good result on Boxing Day.

"A lot has changed since I was there, obviously the manager, and a lot of the players," he told the club's official website. "But I did play with a lot of the youngsters there like Weimann, Clark, Albrighton and Lowton.

"They are young, energetic and hungry to win games. They've proved they can dig in at Villa Park. I watched the game against Manchester United (Villa led 2-0 before going down 3-2) and the result just didn't go their way.

"It will be difficult but we need to play the way we've been playing and I'm sure we'll get the right result."

Villa are sweating on the fitness of Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ron Vlaar and Charles N'Zogbia, while Darren Bent and Richard Dunne are definitely ruled out. Spurs forward Clint Dempsey is a major doubt, after the American missed the goalless draw against Stoke on Saturday.
