Just when things were beginning to look as if there has been a turn around with the Los Angeles Lakers, a 103-99 loss at home on Tuesday to the Philadelphia 76ers has some players coming to grip with reality.
The Lakers are old and there's no point in denying it because their age may have been the deciding factor in close game situations. So far this season whenever the team has been forced to come back from behind, they seem to lose juice in crucial moments.
According to the OC Register, apparently Lakers star guard Kobe Bryant feels that their age has played big in their season thus far and their 15-16 record is a result of that.
"It's because we're old as (expletive)," Kobe Bryant said. "We just have to figure out how to play when we don't have that energy. We have to change things up a little bit defensively; we have to figure out what we want to do offensively.
"We have to figure out what we want to do on nights when we don't have those legs, or when we don't have the energy."
Though their old, Bryant solution of proper care and rest for their bodies will better prepare the team to compete in late game situations.
"(Tonight) we were sluggish, stuck in the mud," Bryant said. "When we have games like that, everything is an uphill battle for us. When we play fresh, we play energized; we are a completely different team."
