Nobody, we repeat, nobody was named to the 2013 MLB Hall of Fame class after no player received enough votes to enter Cooperstown.
The closest player to gain the minimum 75 percent necessary to enter the hall was Craig Biggio who earned 68 percent. Biggio spent his entire 20-year career with the Houston Astros, collected 3,000 hits and was the player beaned the most in the history of the game.
How many votes did other guys receive?
Jack Morris racked up 67.7 percent of votes followed by Jeff Bagwell with 59.6 percent, Mike Piazza had 57.8 percent, Tim Raines received 52.2 percent, Curt Schilling 38.8, Roger Clemens 37.6 percent, Barry bonds 36.2 percent.
Don't be too shocked, not long ago, not a single player was inducted into the Hall of Fame. The year was 1996 and no new player was inducted into Cooperstown.
It hurts to see guys like Jack Morris and Dale Murphy not make it despite having a great chance this year after being in a ballot with what many consider cheaters and liars.
Other guys in the ballot include Rafael Palmeiro,Sammy Sosa, Mark McGwire and many more.
The steroid era, apparently, is still too fresh in writers' minds to let guys like Bonds, Clemens and Sosa be a part of baseball's best on and off the field.
Also apparent through their voting, Morris and Murphy are not Hall of Fame worthy. Next year's ballot will include definite entries in Tom Glavine, Greg Maddux, Frank Thomas, Jeff Kent and Mike Mussina.
