Serena Williams is in action on Saturday in the third round of the Australian Open. Action sets off against Ayumi Morita a little after 8:30 p.m. ET.
No. 3 ranked Williams takes on Morita of Japan in the third round of the 2013 Australian Open. So far, the competition hasn't been able to keep up. She has breezed through those who have stepped up in competition.
In Singles action, Edina Gallovits-Hall of Romania fell to Willaims in two sets with goose eggs on the scoreboard. In the second round, Muguruza won two games and then went scoreless in the second set, seeing Williams proceed to the third round of action.
In this upcoming round, Williams will have to get passed by Morita of Japan.
Morita is 22 years old and has been active since 2008. Her best run at a grand slam title came in 2011 and 2012. In both years she advanced as far as the third round. In 2011 she met her exit in Wimbledon and in 2012, coincidentally, she met her exit in the third round of action.
For Williams, she is chasing after her first Australian Open since 2010. 2012 was a pretty successful year for her. She exited the 2012 Australian Open in the 4th round.
