Pedro Martinez is now working with the Boston Red Sox and he is helping their young talent develop. Check out the quotes from Martinez's sessions with players and what he will do to ensure that the talent doesn't go lost.
Pete Abraham, Red Sox beat writer, shared what Martinez had to say via his Twitter account and here's what the for major league ace had to say.
These tweets were pretty entertaining as Pedro was being Pedro. When active in the majors, though far from pulling Manny Ramirez acts on the field. you never knew what Martinez would do in the clubhouse or say in a press conference.
We all remember him admitting the New York Yankees owned him and saying it a way only Martinez could. IT eventually led to this.
Yankee fans in unison yelling this must me frightening. Let's keep focus though and keep looking at these tweets shared by @Peteabe.
We get a little big of wisdom with Martinez, but at the same time, you can expect the humor to come out of the three-time Cy Young Award winner. He was one of the most dominant pitchers in the game when he was on the mound. As much as you have to respect his numbers, this is one guy who just knew how to have fun and keep teammates loose in the clubhouse.
Before leaving the Red Sox's meeting along with former teammate Jason Varitek, who is also involved with Boston this season, Martinez added this:
Hmm, fun. That's something the Red Sox clubhouse hasn't experienced in the last two seasons. As Martinez mentors the pitching the Red Sox desperately need, maybe then can Boston fans and players remember what it was like to be part of a winning team.
Martinez spent seven of his 18 years in the big leagues with the Red Sox. He won 217 games and posted ERA's under 3.00 in seven consecutive seasons, six of which game as a Red Sox. Martinez is an eight-time All-Star and almost won the MVP in 1999 finishing second behind, then Texas Ranger, Ivan Rodriguez.
