Chelsea are planning to raid Bayern Munich for left-back David Alaba while, Roberto Di Matteo has asked Frank Lampard to join Lazio in the summer.
Alaba has been a revelation ever since making his mark at Bayern, but Roman Abramovich has identified the Austrian defender as a long-term successor to Ashley Cole, according to Fanatix.
The Chelsea veteran, who was initially expected to leave the club at the end of the season, recently extended his stay at Stamford Bridge by a signing a lucrative one-year deal.
However, the heir to Cole's throne at left-back still needs to be sorted out with Ryan Bertrand yet to convince in the position.
Alaba has been a consistent performer for Bayern in the last couple of seasons, and the 20-year-old would be a perfect long-term replacement for Cole.
Di Matteo's advise
Former Chelsea manager Di Matteo has called for Lampard to make a move to Italy and join the Italian's former club Lazio.
Di Matteo is currently on a sabbatical from the game after being unceremoniously fired as Blues manager despite leading them to the Champions League title. The Chelsea legend, however, believes Lampard, who has controversially not been offered a new contract, will be a perfect fit at Lazio.
"It would certainly be a good choice for both parties," Di Matteo told Sky Italia. "I've given him my opinion.
"Lampard is a great player and a great professional, so I am certain he can play at least another two years at the top level.
"I don't know if he will join Lazio or not, but it would certainly be a good choice for both parties. We often talk and I gave him my opinion. At the end of the day he will make the decision."
Lampard has also been linked with moves to Juventus and Fiorentina, with the England international a prime target for David Beckham's former club L.A. Galaxy.
Di Matteo also said he was extremely flattered to see the Chelsea fans sing his name at Stamford Bridge, with the Italian still very much revered by the Blues faithful.
"It was an incredibly emotional experience and a very difficult achievement," Di Matteo added. "I had three fantastic months on the Chelsea bench, but also tough, as we worked up to 18 hours a day to achieve our results.
"I was pleased to hear the fans cheer my name after I left. It was love at first sight with the supporters the moment I arrived in London and I am sure that love will continue over the years.
"Have I had any contact with Italian clubs? I prefer not to talk about this, as I have a great deal of respect for the current coaches.
"In any case, I won't hide that I am very happy with what Lazio are doing in Serie A."
