Like most movies, sequels generally become huge disappointments. Luckily Google's Nexus tablet is not a movie.
Google has announced that their Nexus 7 tablet could be released as soon as May of 2013, and thought equipped with new features, it reportedly won't stray too far from the original's successful formula, again with an entry price of $199.
Google once again partnered with manufacturer Asustek Computer to provide a tablet to create a device that will surely continue to win over the hearts of most critics who've reviewed it.
The Nexus 7 tablet will feature a tweaked design and a full 1080p high-definition display. The bezel around the screen will be narrower as well according to the report, and the tablet will supposedly run an "upgraded Jelly Bean-based Android operating system to enhance integration between the software and the hardware."
Sources claim these improvements will include a "Full HD" resolution and an even thinner border around the display.
One thing the Nexus 7 may not come equipped with is an entirely new build of the Android OS. Still, according to DigiTimes', the original Nexus 7 is on track to surpass shipments of six million units at the end of January, with the $249, Wi-Fi only model with 32GB storage as a best seller.
DigiTimes' sources estimated that, including the rumored next-generation Nexus 7 tablet, Google is expected to ship around 10 million of the tablets in 2013.
