Cyndy Garvey Sues UCLA: Wife of Los Angeles Dodgers Great Steve Garvey Accuses School of Misleading Her To Masters Program

Cyndy Garvey is a former television host and the wife of former Los Angeles Dodgers great Steve Garvey, but she is in the news on Wednesday for issues related to higher education.

According to TMZ.com, the former "The Morning Show" host has decided to sue UCLA, claiming that she was duped into enrolling in a Masters program at the UCLA School of Public Health after being approached by higher-ups at the university.

The report states that Garvey had no interest in joining the program, but that the former director of the executive master's program and others offered to fund her education because the school would benefit from her "celebrity status." Garvey says that the costs were to have been split down the middle with a rich alumni member and the school itself.

According to TMZ: "In her suit, filed in L.A. County Superior Court by entertainment attorney Keith Fink, Garvey says she completed the program in 2009 -- and fulfilled all of her fundraising and P.R. obligations -- but 3 years later, she was hit with a $20k tax lien for unpaid debt to UCLA."

A representative from UCLA had "no comment at this time."

Garvey was co-host of "The Morning Show" with Regis Philbin before Kathie Lee and Kelly Ripa came on and her husband Steve was part of a group that was in the running for the purchase of the Los Angeles Dodgers, but they lost out to Magic Johnson and Stan Kasten's group, who paid billions for it.
