Former NBA player Dennis Rodman has officially released a children's book titled, "Dennis The Wild Bull." If the title does not give it way that the book was written by Rodman, the cover, which is a red bull with two nose rings and a tattoo, sure will. Rodman wants to use the book to tell kids that it is ok to just be who they are.
""More than anything, I just want little kids today just to understand, ain't no matter what you do in life, be different, rich or poor man, guess what, it's OK to be who you are pretty much and you'll be accepted," Rodman said.
Rodman certainly lived up to his own message in his lifetime. He is often referred to as one of the NBA's craziest personalities both on and off the court. Who can forget the time he showed up to a New York bookstore in a wedding dress? Not to mention all the on-court fights, the nine-day marriage to Carmen Electra or the numerous run-ins with the law. But now he has turned it all around and into a story.
Now 51, Rodman is using his new children's book to tell a slightly calmer version of his life. Dustin Warburton helped co-write the story about a bull pulled from his family and forced to live with other bulls in a rodeo. Eventually, the bulls accept him for who he is even though he looks totally different from all the other bulls. Dennis, the bull, eventually plots an escape to go back to his family and brings his new friends with him.
Rodman says that readers will be able to really see him in the story and be able to relate. For those having a hard time seeing Rodman write a children's book with his past history, Rodman himself even laughed at the idea, saying that it was pretty incredible he was able to do this.
"Dennis The Wild Bull" is available on Rodman's website, as well as Amazon.
