Phil Mickelson unintentionally provided some comedy relief at the Pebble Beach Pro Am Saturday when he arrived at the 18th hole.
The lovable golfer had to travel to the rocks and as he made his way down, he accidentally slipped and fell on his backside.
"I got lucky," Mickelson said. "I didn't get hurt."
He also fell from the edge of contention to out of the race, 11 shots behind leaders Brandt Snedeker and James Hahn.
"The triple takes a lot of wind out, because if I could have made a birdie on the last hole, been within six or seven shots of the lead, you never know," a subdued Mickelson said. "Kind of what happened last year if I get a hot round, but now that put me a little bit too far back."
Mickelson entered the week with great expectations coming off a dominating victory in the Phoenix Open. He was returning to the site of his tremendous win last year, when he shot 64 in the final round to blow out rival Tiger Woods.
Mickelson shot 31 on the front nine in the last round a year ago, but could make only two birdies against a bogey Saturday in his first 12 holes. At 18, he sliced his drive down near the beach and couldn't find his ball. He took a drop and then hit another slice into the water. His fifth shot came up short, and he eventually two-putted for the 8.
