Tony Romo Golf: Dallas Cowboys Quarterback Plays at Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Shoots Excellent Until Final Round Falls Apart Like NFL Playoffs (VIDEO)

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has been known as an avid golfer and he showed off his skills over the weekend at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am tournament.

According to NBCSports.com, Romo played excellent through the first three rounds of the tournament, but lost the lead along with partner Jordan Spieth on the final day of the tournament on Sunday, eventually finishing third at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Romo was paired with pro partner Jordan Spieth and shot a 68 on the final day, but ended up behind co-championship teams Brandt Snedeker-Toby Wilt and Michael Letzig-John Erickson who shot rounds of 65. Romo hit a number of excellent shots, including a 15-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole, but he couldn't put things together over the final round to take the win, much like he has fallen apart in big games for the Cowboys in the past.

According to the Dallas Morning News, Romo gave a laugh when asked about playing on the PGA Tour.

"I think they're wrong," he said. "I'm pretty good at what I do. I like to compete, and it gets our family out on a couple of vacations once in a while and it makes it an enjoyable experience."

Romo and Spieth started off well, setting up in the top 10 after the first two rounds in large part due to the play of the Dallas quarterback. He had a chance at an eagle putt on the fifth hole that he missed, but later he converted one on the sixth. The two combined for a 8-under 62 on Thursday and on Friday they shot a 7-under 65 after five birdies from Romo on the back nine.

"It was good to kind of get it going a little bit," Romo told the Dallas Morning News. "It's fun playing with Jordan. He's playing so good, so it's fun to be out there. He's got everything you need. He's got a real bright future. It's a marathon not a sprint, and he's going to be one of the good ones."

Last year the Cowboys missed the playoffs again for second straight season and went just 8-8.

The team ranked third in passing, but was 31st in rushing after averaging just 79 yards per game. The defense struggled, which forced Jerry Jones to cut ties with coordinator Rob Ryan. The team brought in Monte Kiffin, who will need to fix a unit that ranked 19th in passing and 22nd in rushing defense.
