The No. 1 ranked Kansas Jayhawks take on the Texas Tech Red Raiders at 3 p.m. ET today as both teams set off the 2013 quarterfinals of the Big 12 Conference. Check out the live stream provided by ESPN at the end of the article.
The Jayhawks were resting and idle as they will face a Texas Tech team that powered through their first round game against the West Virginia Mountaineers. Their game went down to the wire as Texas Tech almost spoiled a 14-point lead. They beat the Mountaineers 71-69 thanks to Dejan Kravic who proved the put back as time wound down.
Texas Tech faces a Jayhawks team that wrapped up the season on a pretty hot streak. Though they lost their last game of the regular season against Baylor, they had won seven consecutive games after losing three straight games in the month of February.
The Jayhawks were pretty consistent losing only five games the entire season. At one point, the Jayhawks won 18 consecutive games. Texas Tech was caught up in both of these win streaks. Back in January, the Jayhawks defeated TTU 60-46 and then less than two weeks ago, they destroyed them 79-42.
TTU presents itself as a team that really doesn't possess a strength in comparison to the other teams int he nation. They averaged 65 points during the regular season, 32 rebounds, 11 assits and shot .422 percent from the floor. All these average numbers ranked them above 200 in the nation.
Kansas on the other hand are a force. They are 28th in points average close to 75 per game. They are 13th in the nation in rebounding averaging close to 40 boards per game. They average 15 assists per game for 27th in the nation and shoot .473 from the floor for 24th in the nation.
