The 2013 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament is down to the Elite Eight. Here's the bracket of the best teams remaining as the tournament winds down to the Final Four. Did your team make the bill?
Out of the Midwest, Louisville (1) and Duke (2) proved to be the fittest out of their region. Louisville's relentless defense and consistent offense has allowed them to win by a total of 65 points in the tournament. They recently defeated the Oregon Ducks to advance to the Elite Eight and avoid any bracket busters as they are the true No. 1 seed in the tournament.
For Duke it has been a quiet tournament as the upsets and Cinderella Stories have taken headlines. Duke hasn't had trouble getting here beating all their opponents by triple digits. They beat Albany, Creighton and Michigan St. to get to the Elite Eight.
Over in the West, Ohio State (2) and Wichita State (9).
The Wichita St. Shockers have been an absolute surprise so far in this tournament, but the West Region was heavily criticized for having poorly seeded a couple of teams. Wichita St. has gotten past Pittsburgh, upset Gonzaga and defeated La Salle to advance to the Elite Eight.
They will face an Ohio St. that has had a flare for the dramatics in recent games. After absolutely crushing No. 15 Iona, they barely got past Iowa St, defeating them 78-75 on a last second three. Then they let a lead slip late in their game against Arizona and need a three once again to win the game 73-70.
The South Region has Michigan (4) and Florida (3).
Michigan has also cruised in this tournament as the Wolverines topped San Diego State in the second round 71-56, destroyed VCU 78-53 and barely survived No. 1 Kansas in a game that went to overtime, 87-85.
The final region, the East, has Syracuse (4) and Marquette (3).
Marquette is somehow still alive in this tournament after escaping a one-point victory versus Davidson and then winning by two points against Butler. Thanks to Vander Blue, Marquette is alive and well. They received healthy contributions from the entire team as the defeated Miami 71-61.
Syracuse knocked out No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers in their last game after defeating California and the Pacific Tigers.
FINAL FOUR
This is how the rest of the tournament breaks down. The winner between Duke vs. Louisville faces the winner between Ohio St. vs. Wichita St. The other two teams in the Final Four will be decided between the winners of Marquette vs. Syracuse and Michigan vs. Florida.
