The New York Rangers already made one big move at the trading deadline by getting Ryane Clowe on Tuesday and they pulled another one on the final day just an hour before it ended, sending Marian Gaborik to the Columbus Blue Jackets for young players.
According to ESPN.com, the team sent Gaborik to the Blue Jackets for center Derick Brassard, right wing Derek Dorsett and defenseman John Moore. The team gives one of their top offensive players to a team that gave the Rangers on of their best in the offseason when the team traded Rick Nash. The Rangers now have made two significant moves in the hopes of improving the worst scoring attack in the NHL.
Clowe was acquired after he waived his no trade clause and the Gaborik deal was rumored for a couple weeks as the forward was lacking in strength and was not scoring as much as he used to. The team has the eighth playoff spot in the East and is desperately trying to hold on.
In other news, Ben Bishop was traded while Ryan Miller and Roberto Luongo were not after rumors were circulating. Jason Pominville was traded to Minnesota, while Raffi Torres is headed to the Sharks.
