The Final Four is finally here for both the men's and women's basketball tournaments and with the boys playing on Saturday, Sunday will be the big day for UConn and the other teams, including Notre Dame and Skylar Diggins, who will try to defeat the Huskies once again when they face off in New Orleans.
The first game is between Louisville and California and features two strong teams that are not usually in this deep in the tournament. The Cardinals sent the Baylor Bears packing in a big upset to send Brittney Griner home after her fantastic career and now they will focus on trying to advance as far as their male counterparts may go when the team takes on Wichita Stat6e on the men's side of the tournament.
The Cardinals have been playing hot after going 28-8 and the team hit 16 3-pointers against the Bears to help win that game before adding another eight against Tennessee. Cal has done a good job this season on the boards and the team was able to take down Georgia behind 25 points from Layshia Clarendon.
Louisville has made history as just the second number five seed to make it this far and the team is making its second appearance since 2009. That is a far cry from UConn, who are in the Final Four for the sixth straight season and they are taking on their rivals in the Big East in Notre Dame with Skylar Diggins. Breanna Stewart will be key for the Huskies, as she has blocked 14 shots so far and has been an impressive offensive threat.
Diggins will be the main focus for the Irish and she could show her dominance on Sunday as the two teams face off for the fourth time this year. The Huskies are trying to advance to their eighth championship game.
