The NFL has taken measures to enhance security at the draft on April 25 next week and said on Tuesday that it was in response to the attack on the Boston Marathon on Monday that saw multiple explosions and deaths.

According to NFL.com, the league is on "high alert" after the bombing and that the NFL has "enhanced" security for the event, which still start on Thursday night at Radio City. The league has been proactive when it comes to these issues and they did the same thing with the Super Bowl and since the NFL draft is already a very secure event, the league will not have to do too much more to help with safety.

Since the draft is in New York, security is already at a high level and after the attacks on Monday the league and security officials will be even more aware of any issues going on during the event.

"The NFL and its clubs have operated with a very high level of security since 9/11 for all of our games and events. For next week's NFL draft, we will review and enhance our already comprehensive security plans with the NYPD, Radio City and our private security partners. We will advise the public more specifically next week prior to the draft," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement.
