Tim Tebow Rumors: New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and Arizona Cardinals Schemes Work If New York Jets Release Quarterback

Tim Tebow is still a member of the New York Jets despite being mentioned in trade rumors all offseason and although the team has had issues shopping him, there are still a few options for Tebow in the future, including as a backup for teams like the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears.

The quarterback situations around the league have started to shift over the past two weeks, as Matt Flynn is now on the Oakland Raiders and Carson Palmer is the new starter for the Arizona Cardinals. Flynn was mentioned in trade rumors for over a week and the Raiders, Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars all showed interest, but it was Oakland who won out. The Cardinals worked out a trade for Palmer after signing Drew Stanton earlier in the offseason and cutting Kevin Kolb, who was injured last year.

The 33-year-old Palmer will be a huge upgrade for the Cardinals over Kolb, John Skelton and Ryan Lindley and it also takes away another possible Tebow destination. Palmer was acquired for a sixth round pick and Oakland received a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2014 draft depending on how many games he starts at quarterback. Arizona was one of the teams that was looking at Geno Smith in the draft, but the trade for Palmer may change that option.

Tebow's future likely is in the backup position and a number of quarterbacks have filled those roles as well, including Ryan Fitzpatrick with the Titans after he was released by the Bills. Buffalo also made moves at quarterback by signing Kevin Kolb to a two-year deal and he joins Tavaris Jackson and Aaron Corp on the roster. Colt McCoy was also traded this offseason from the Browns to the San Francisco 49ers, another spot that could have been intriguing for the quarterback.

The Cleveland Browns shipped out McCoy and signed Jason Campbell, giving second-year starter Brandon Weeden some competition. Some options could be with the Patriots and his former coach who drafted him Josh McDaniels, as well as in Arizona as a backup and with the Baltimore Ravens, where he could be a clear cut backup and work with Joe Flacco after the team won the Super Bowl.

The New Orleans Saints are in need of a backup quarterback after losing Chase Daniel as a free agent and the Chicago Bears are out one after Campbell left as a free agent. Tebow could reunite with new coach Marc Trestman, as he worked with Tebow before he was drafted by the Denver Broncos. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also looking for a backup and someone to push starter Josh Freeman and Tebow is a hard worker, something Greg Schiano loves.
