NBA Standings: Knicks and Thunder Can Clinch Joining Miami Heat & Spurs in Second Round of Playoffs

The New York Knicks and Oklahoma City Thunder are playing today and they once again have a chance to clinch their respective series as both teams play in Game 5's. Another win gets them out of the first round and into the second round of the NBA Playoffs. Here are what the standings and series look like for these two teams as they look to play further into the NBA postseason.

The Knicks and Thunder have 3-1 advantages in their series. Both teams had a 3-0 lead in the series, but lost Game 4, ultimately because they were both missing key pieces to their offense. the Thunder without Russell Westbrook dont' have a legit second scorer and the same goes for the Knicks when they're without J.R. Smith.

The Thunder and Knicks have two of the Top 5 best players in the league and they both carried their teams in Game 4 despite the loses. The Knicks depended on Carmelo Anthony, while the Thunder have Kevin Durant.

Now, the Knicks are playing the Boston Celtics, their division rival. The last thing the Knicks want to do is give the Celtics confidence going to the TD Garden in Game 6, if necessary. The Knicks have to put it away today, but they know that if they mess up twice, they can still clinch at home in Game 7.

As for the Thunder, they're under the same predicament. Win today and they get to celebrate in front of their home crowd. The series will head back to the Toyota Center in Houston, which is why it's important for the Thunder to put this series away as soon as they can.

Of course, the Celtics and Rockets want to stay alive another day, but if their opponents come out charger and shooting well, this game will be over quicker than expected. The Knicks have won both of their games at home to start the season, while the Thunder are also perfect while playing at home. Therefore, it will take a huge effort from the road team in this one.

Expect a hostile scene as both teams have their home crowds energized as they want more playoff basketball. In New York, the Knicks haven't won a series since 2000, that's over 10 years. For the Thunder, their home crowd wants them to repeat as Western Conference championship and win it all.

With a win, both teams can join the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat on vacation. The Heat and Spurs clinched on Sunday, Miami swept the Milwaukee Baucks and the Spurs destroyed the Los Angeles Lakers 4-0.

For the rest of the NBA standings and series, here's what they look like:
Denver Nuggets 2-3 Golden State Warriors
Los Angeles Clippers 2-3 Memphis Grizzlies

Indiana Pacers 2-2 Atlanta Hawks
Brooklyn Nets 2-3 Chicago Bulls
