The race for the top-four in the English Premier League will definitely go down to the wire.
However, Tottenham missed their chance to go above their rivals Arsenal, after only managing a 2-2 draw against Chelsea, that too, thanks to a late equalizer from Gylfi Sigurdsson.
Stamford Bridge witnesses four goals on Wednesday, two from each side, with Oscar scoring the opener for Chelsea, only to see Emmanuel Adebayor level things up with a stunning solo goal.
Ramires restored the advantage for the Blues late in the first half, but substitute Sigurdsson was at the right place at the right time to curl home a crucial equalizer, which keeps Spurs very much in the race for the Champions League places.
The result sees Chelsea stay third on 69 points, two more than fourth-placed Arsenal, and three clear of Tottenham, with all three teams having played 36 games.
Chelsea started the brighter with Juan Mata blazing a left-footed shot over the bar, before the opener came in the tenth minute.
Mata's corner from the right was flicked on by Gary Cahill, with Oscar on hand to nod home from two yards out.
Lewis Holtby looked to find the equalizer, but just fired wide, before Mata again blasted over the bar at the other end.
Then came a moment of brilliance from Adebayor, so rarely seen nowadays, in the 26th minute. The former Arsenal striker took possession of the ball inside his own half, before running at Chelsea and then curling a wonderful 20-yard strike beyond Petr Cech, who could only watch the ball go past him and nestle into the top corner.
Chelsea were back in front on 39 minutes, with Torres finding a marauding Ramires, who toe-poked it beyond Lloris to make it 2-1.
The home side cranked up the pressure early in the second half and should have really put the game to bed, but Cesar Azpilicueta fired high, before Hazard did the same after turning Kyle Walker inside out.
The best chance of the half for Chelsea came on the hour, when a delectable flick from Hazard put Mata clear on goal, with the Spaniard then checking before laying the ball across to the onrushing Ramires, who unfortunately lost his balance at the worst possible moment.
Tottenham looked to find their way back in the final 20 minutes, and did exactly that with Adebayor turning creator in the 80th minute. A nice little flick from the striker put Sigurdsson through, with the playmaker bending his shot beyond Cech and into the bottom corner - Adebayor was offside in the build up to the goal, however.
Neither side could find the winner in the final ten minutes, as Chelsea and Arsenal came away with a smile on their faces, and crucially destiny in their own hands with just two games remaining in the season.
