The NHL playoffs have continued to be exciting and on Wednesday there were a number of tough games, including the Rangers and Capitals and the Kings and Blues, while every game on the evening finished with a one-goal change in the score between the winner and the loser.
The Rangers desperately needed to tie up the series after playing so bad I Washington and they did just that as Madison Square Garden, winning 4-3 and holding of the Caps to tie the series at 2-2 as Game 5 heads down to DC. The Rangers were abel to keep the Capitals down in the third period with just one goal and after going up 4-2 they were able to hold on for the clutch win.
After scoring the game winner in the previous matchup Derek Stepan has appeared to get his scoring touch back and Brad Richards and Dan Girardi also scored, while Carl Hagelin added his second of the playoffs. The Caps scored twice in the second, but the Rangers added two in the third and Henrik Lundqvist had 27 saves to outplay Braden Holtby for the Capitals, as he had 30 saves in the loss.
The Red Wings are now on the brink after losing 3-2 to the Ducks in overtime and now Anaheim has the chance to close out the series. Jonas Hiller had 29 saves in the win, while Jimmy Howard had 31 for Detroit, who lost on the winning goal in overtime by Nick Bonino. The Kings also won in overtime against the Blues and now the champs have a 3-2 series lead as the series heads back to the West Coast after a weak shot went in from Slava Voynov after two other goals from Jeff Carter. Jonathan Quick had 34 saves in the victory and both teams added goals in the third period.
The Bruins took a commanding 3-1 lead in their series after a 4-3 overtime win and now the chances of Toronto giving Canada a home playoff victory are very slim, as the Boston Bruins can now close out the series. David Krejci had three goals, including the winner in overtime as Patrice Bergeron scored the other goal for Boston, who got 45 saves in the victory from Tukka Rask and now former Bruin Phil Kessel must try to get his revenge in Game 5, but the chances are looking slimmer by the game. The Bruins erupted with three goals in the second before scoring the winner in overtime.
