NBA Standings Playoffs 2013: San Antonio Spurs Must Rebound In Game 3 Against Warriors, Key For 2-1 Series Lead Is Stopping Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry

The San Antonio Spurs looked like an unbeatable team through the first round against the Los Angeles Lakers, but the team has been anything but that in the second round, as the Golden State Warriors are giving them a tough go of it in their Western conference series.

The Warriors won Game 2 100-91 on Wednesday night after dropping Game 1 and Klay Thompson had a 29-point first half on his way to 36 in Game 2 and he will be one of the key players on Friday night as the series shifts to California. The Spurs may be in trouble as things go to the West Coast, as the team was just 1-9 this past season against Western opponents on the Road with a plus-.550 winning percentage, which Golden State has.

The Spurs are lucky that they aren't down 2-0, as the Warriors had a 16-point lead in Game 1 and blew it before losing in double overtime. Manu Ginobili almost lost the Spurs the game in the second period, but instead later on he hit a last second three pointer to finish things off and now the series is ties 1-1. Curry scored 44 points in that game and if he plays as well as he did in that game and the previous series, San Antonio will have some trouble. The Warriors haven't been to the conference finals since the 1970s and the Spurs will be looking to return once again after winning multiple championships over the past decade.

The fans in California have been some of the best all season and coach Mark Jackson is preparing his players for another tough game. Thompson is ready to repeat his excellent performance in Game 2 and the Warriors know that they have a chance to keep home court away from the Spurs with another home victory.

"Our confidence is at an all-time high," Thompson added. "We've shown we can beat this team, and we just have to stay humble about it and keep working hard because it's a long series."
