NBA Playoff Standings: Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson Shut Down As San Antonio Spurs In Control 3-2 After Tony Parker Drops 25 Points On Golden State Warriors

The San Antonio Spurs appear firmly in control of their second round series against the Golden State Warriors after winning Game 5 on Tuesday night and now Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry have to deal with an elimination game at home coming up next.

The Spurs now have a 3-2 lead i8n the series after their 109-91 win on Tuesday and the team was led by a double-double of 25 points and 10 assists from Tony Parker, who took over the game and kept the Warriors from making a comeback. Parker was banged up earlier in the series, but he appeared to be fully healthy on Tuesday, as he made a number of tough shots and kept the Warriors starting backcourt to just 13 points in the contest.

The Warriors were outmuscled in the game and the Spurs were able to have the rebounding advantage and they also forced 14 turnovers in the game. Harrison Barnes led the way for the Warriors for the second game in a row with 25 points, while Jarrett Jack had 20 and Stephen Curry had just nine on the night after dropping 44 in the first game and leading the way for the Warriors through the series. Thompson had just four points and two rebounds in the game and the two stars for the warriors will need to step up in Game 6 for a chance to win.

Tim Duncan had another double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds, while Kawhi Leonard had 17 points and Danny Green added 16. The Spurs were very balanced in the game and Parker was fantastic shooting the ball, only giving up two turnovers while dropping 25 points. The Warriors appeared to regain momentum after winning Game 4, but now the Spurs are up in the series with the chance to close it out in the next game.

The Bulls and Heat will play Game 5 on Wednesday night with Miami up 3-1, while the Grizzlies and Thunder will play in Oklahoma City with Memphis up 3-1. Kevin Durant is looking to step up after losing the last game and the team now has one final shot to keep the series going.
