Novak Djokovic will begin his quest for a career Grand Slam when he opens his French Open tournament with a first round match against Belgian David Goffin.
Scheduled to be out on court for the second match at Philippe Chatrier, after the first round encounter between Frenchwoman Marion Bartoli and Olga Govortsova of Belarus, Djokovic will be keen to ensure there are no hiccups in the first round.
The Serbian earlier said winning the French Open was his "No.1 priority" of the season as the world number one looks to be amongst the elite group of players who have won all four Majors.
"This is the tournament that is the No. 1 priority of my year, of my season," the Serb said. "This is where I want to win, and I'm going to go for it. I think my game is there, and I'm very, very motivated.
"But as I said, you know, it's a long tournament. I will take it step by step and see how far I can go.
"I would be very honored to be part of that small, small group of players that manage to win all four Grand Slams. But, you know, there is so much to this tournament. It means a lot."
Djokovic is scheduled to meet Rafael Nadal, who was made to work really hard by Daniel Brands in his first round at Roland Garros, and the Australian Open champion will take the confidence of an authoritative win over the seven-time French Open champion in Monte Carlo last month, if the two, as expected, reach the last-four.
"That win against him can give me that necessary mental belief, self-belief, prior to this tournament," he said. "Winning against Nadal on clay is not something that happens every day, you know. It's a big challenge."
