U.S. Open 2013 Championship Pairings: Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott Grouped For Rounds 1 and 2 at Merion Golf Club Major Starting Thursday

Tiger Woods is having a fantastic year on tour despite his struggles at the Memorial Tournament last week and after working out the kinks in the time between, the number one golfer in the world will have some star company for the U.S. Open starting Thursday, as Woods is paired with Rory McIlroy and Adam Scott for the first two rounds.

The 113th U.S. Open starts on Thursday and Woods will be looking to break his major drought while playing with the other top two ranked players behind him at number one. The USGA released the information about the trio and said that Woods, McIlroy and Scott will tee off at 1:14 PM on the first day and the second round at hole number 11 at 7:44 AM. While the Tweets were taken down, that appears to be the schedule and it will also be the first time that Woods and McIlroy are together in a major.

The three have played together 12 times before in tournaments with Woods doing the best nine times and they also started off together during the first rounds of the WGC-Cadillac Championship at Doral, where Woods eventually won. Woods has won four times on tour this year and after playing poorly at the Memorial, he will be looking to rebound, while McIlroy will be looking to get his year back on the right track.

Scott previously was in a 1-2-3 group with Woods and Phil Mickelson at the US Open in 2008, which was the last time that Woods won a major and that will only add to the intrigue next week. Scott won the Masters and he will be looking for his second, while McIlroy is trying for his third in as many years.
