Arsenal Transfer News: Nicklas Bendtner Finally Set for Permanent Move Away as Summer Clearout Continues

Arsenal discard Nicklas Bendtner confirmed he is looking for a permanent transfer from the club in the summer, and is in talks with a number of clubs.

Bendtner has not made a first-team appearance for Arsenal since August 2011, and has spent the last two seasons on loan with Sunderland and Juventus.

Neither of these sides have been convinced by the Denmark international, who has shown his talents only in flashes.

Bendtner was expected to leave Arsenal on a permanent transfer last summer, but eventually had to settle for a loan move to Juventus, where he found it difficult to get into the first team, with various injuries also hampering his progress.

The 25-year-old revealed Arsenal have agreed to let him go on and said he is in talks with several clubs.

"I am talking with five or six clubs at the moment over a permanent transfer," Bendtner is quoted as saying by the Metro.

"Things are agreed with Arsenal and I will decide which club I sign for in the next two weeks."

Arsenal have already released three high-earning players in Denilson, Andrey Arshavin and Sebastien Squillaci, and have some more deadwood to clear in the mould of Bendtner, Marouane Chamakh Andre Santos and Johan Djourou.

If the Gunners can offload Bendtner and Chamakh at the very least, it will not just clear up a few places in the squad, but will also open up the wage budget by quite a bit.

Djourou had a successful six-month loan spell with Hannover, and is expected to make the move to the German club permanent, while Santos returned from his loan spell with Gremio.

Chamakh, who was on a short-term loan with West Ham last season, has been linked with a move to former club Bordeaux, but his current wages will remain a barrier in completing the move.
