Carlos Gonzalez Injury Video: Outfielder Hit While in Batting Circle

Carlos Gonzalez suffered a left foot contusion after getting hit by a foul ball off the bat of Jordan Pacheco in the first inning of the Colorado Rockies vs. Washington Nationals game Thursday afternoon. No report has been made on Gonzalez's condition, but he went down immediately after being hit by the ball.

Luckily, from the looks of it, Gonzalez was able to walk off the field under his own power with no assistance. He looked to be in a lot of pain, however, it took him a while to take a couple of steps. When he got up Gonzalez bent over, waiting a couple of seconds before attempting to take a step. After being able to walk, Gonzalez went straight to the clubhouse and did not return to the game. Manager Walt Weiss replaced Gonzalez with Tyler Colvin and no reports on the severity of the injury have been released.

This could be truly unfortunate for the Rockies who are currently in the middle of the race for first place in the N.L. West. They have surprised many as their pitching has been getting the job done and their offense, led by Gonzalez and Troy Tulowitzki, has been putting up enough runs. Though not amazing, the Rockies are 35-31 so far in 2013.

It's also a bad time for Gonzalez to get injured since he is currently showing off his power. About a week ago, he had a three-homer day and has totaled four in the past eight days. Gonzalez is the heart of the Rockies offense as he provides balance to the lineup and power from the left side of the plate. Gonzalez has played 64 of the Rockies 66 games this season, which is a big story being that CarGo has missed numerous games due to injuries throughout his short career. In 2012, Gonzalez missed 27 games after having missed 35 the season before. 2010 has been his most successful season offensively and as far as games played. Gonzalez played in 147 games, hit .336 with 34 home runs and 117 RBI.

Check out the video of the injury. We'll keep you updated with any news on the status of Gonzalez's left foot.
