The Miami Heat did something amazing on Tuesday night, as they were on the brink of losing the championship and with their legacy on the line, LeBron James turned it on and powered his team to a victory to set up a Game 7 matchup to decide the finals.
During the run of the fourth quarter, James ditched his trademark headband after it was knocked off and that spurred him to a 16 point performance in that frame before overtime. James finished the game with a triple double and the fourth quarter was huge for him, as he had 12 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal, 1 block of Tim Duncan and 4 turnovers on 5-of-11 shooting and finished with 32 points after starting the night 3 for 12 from the field. James added 10 rebounds and 11 assists in the game and for stretches he looked unstoppable. Chris Bosh came up big and Ray Allen hit one of the greatest shots in finals history to tie up the game.
The headband got its own Twitter account during the game and players like Metta World Peace and Ty Lawson were tweeting about it and not wearing headbands anymore. The Heat outscored the Spurs by 10 in the fourth quarter and was able to hold on to the 103-100 win after Bosh made a block on Danny Green to end the game. He previously blocked Tony Parker to keep the lead and he was the one who got the rebound to Allen to make his shot.
James now keeps his legacy intact for another game and he may end up winning finals MVP if the Heat can take Game 7, for which they will be favored since it is at home. No NBA team has won Game 7 on the road in quite some time and after how close the Spurs came to winning, the trophy was being brought out onto the floor, it might be too hard for the team to recover once the series picks up on Thursday.
