Fan Dies After Falling At Turner Field, Ronald Lee Homer Jr. Dead At Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies Game With 65-Foot Fall From Upper Deck

A tragic story out of Atlanta, as a fan at the Braves-Philadelphia Phillies game died on Monday after falling 65 feet at Turner Field during the rain soaked game, which was delayed due to weather.

According to ESPN.com, Ronald Lee Homer Jr. fell 65 feet at the stadium and authorities said the game was delayed at the stadium for two hours and during that time he fell from an upper deck and was then taken to the hospital, where he later died. Authorities have ruled out foul play in the death and he was in critical condition before passing away.

Homer's mother said that he spoke with her before it happened and that the 30-year-old was a lifelong fan of the team. This comes after a fan fell and died in 2008 after falling down stairs at Turner Field as well as in 2012 when someone died after falling at a football game. An autopsy on the body is planned for Tuesday and the authorities did not reveal yet what may have caused the fall and now there could be more issues that arise from the accident.

"He said 'I love you Mom,' and I said 'I love you, too' and that was it," his mother said in an interview with The Associated Press on Tuesday morning.

"He was big hearted, just a great guy, very respectful," she said. "It didn't matter if they were winning, losing or what -- he's been a Braves fan forever."
