New York Knicks Rumors: Iman Shumpert Responds To Rapper Kendrick Lamar's 'King Of New York' Line In New Track (Audio)

Rapper Kendrick Lamar blew up social media yesterday after leveling the rap game with his verse on Big Sean's new track, "Control," as his super-controversial verse became the talk of the town.

Lamar, who hails from Compton, California, sparked a lot of controversy after ripping into his rap peers by name, calling out Jermaine Cole (J. Cole), Big Krit, Wale, Pusha T, Meek Millz, A$AP Rocky, Drake, Tyler the Creator, Mac Miller and even his partners on the track, Big Sean and Jay Electronica.

Here's a sample:

I got love for you all but I'm tryna murder you n-----

Tryna make sure your core fans never heard of you n-----

They don't wanna hear not one more noun or verb from you n-----

What is competition? I'm tryna raise the bar high

However, the controversy doesn't end there. Lamar also anointed himself as being one of the most royal of rappers with this line as well:

"I'm Machiavelli's offspring, I'm the king of New York, king of the coast, one hand, I juggle them both."

The part in which he dubbed himself "king of New York" caused such a frenzy amongst New Yorkers that even New York Knicks guard Iman Shumpert felt it was necessary to defend his city.

That one line prompted Shumpert to record a track entitled "Dear Kendrick," which can be listened too posted below.

Lamar has certainly raised the bar, it'll be interesting to see what other responses his verse prompts up.
