NFL Preseason Scores 2013: Live Games Updates With Stats, Halftime Video For Week 2 Schedule

The NFL preseason is heading into the second week of play on Thursday and with a number of exciting games, one of the most interesting matchups will be the San Diego Chargers and Chicago Bears, as the two will go at it at Soldier Field for a presentation of Monday Night Football.

The other games on the schedule include the Philadelphia Eagles hosting the Carolina Panthers at 7:30, as well as the Detroit Lions visiting the Cleveland Browns. The Atlanta Falcons will visit the Baltimore Ravens as well and that could very well end up being a Super Bowl matchup down the line depending on how the season shakes out. The Cleveland Browns and the Lions both are coming off wins in their first preseason game and the Browns are hopeful that running back Trent Richardson will be ready for the game on Thursday night.

According to ESPN.com, Richardson has yet to play in a preseason game in his career after dealing with injuries last season after being the number three overall pick and he also missed last week's game against the St. Louis Rams after the team wanted to be cautious with his shin injury. Richardson appears ready to get his first preseason action now, as head coach Rob Chudzinski said that he would play a couple series in the game against the Lions. Richardson is considered one of the top young running backs in the league and he will get his chance to play in the preseason finally after being drafted last year.

Richardson was still recovering from knee surgery last preseason and missed out on those games and while he was hopeful that he could play in all four this year, clearly that did not happen. Richardson had an excellent rookie season with nearly 1,000 yards rushing, although he missed one game after hurting his ankle towards the end of the season. Richardson is expecting to be a prime contributor to the offense this season, which Chudzinski is overhauling after spending years working with Cam Newton in Carolina.

While he has yet to pick a starting quarterback yet, all signs point to young star Brandon Weeden, who was also selected in the first round with Richardson last year. Weeden and free agent signing Jason Campbell are competing for the job and while the selection hasn't been made yet, Weeden will likely get the nod after starting last year after being taken later in the first round after Richardson.
