Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Tony Romo Needs Fast Start In 2013 With NY Giants, Chiefs, Rams, San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos On Opening NFL Schedule

The Dallas Cowboys have not won a Super Bowl in quite some time and while the team did not finish number one in the NFC East over the past two seasons, the team is number one again in a different ranking, as they have taken the most valuable NFL franchise title for the seventh straight season from Forbes.

According to ESPN.com, the Cowboys held onto the top ranking for the seventh straight season as the most valued franchise in the NFL and the report says that the club is worth over $2 billion dollars. While the Cowboys have now won a Super Bowl in over a decade, they are considered "America's team" and are one of the most popular franchises in the world. The Cowboys have Tony Romo at quarterback and although they missed out on the playoffs in the final week again last season, they are still number one.

The team is the only one over $2 billion and one reason is likely due to their $1 billion stadium and popularity. Coming behind the Cowboys are the New England Patriots, Washington Redskins, New York Giants and Houston Texas in the top five and the Philadelphia Eagles make it all NFC East teams in the top 10. The Giants are worth $1.55 billion, while the Patriots are worth $1.8 billion. The report says that the NFL has an average value by team of $1.17 billion, which is "more than the mean valuation of the world's top 20 soccer teams" as well as the MLB, NHL and NBA.

An interesting part is also that no team went down in value, meaning the NFL is very healthy financially and other top 10 teams included the New York Jets, Chicago Bears and the San Francisco 49ers. The Baltimore Ravens moved up on the list into the top 10 after winning the Super Bowl.

The Cowboys have a $500 million lead over the Patriots and the following teams on the list are worth less than a billion, including the Arizona Cardinals ($961 million), San Diego Chargers ($949 million), Atlanta Falcons ($933 million), Cincinnati Bengals ($924 million), Detroit Lions ($900 million), St. Louis Rams ($875 million), Buffalo Bills ($870 million), Jacksonville Jaguars ($840 million) and Oakland Raiders ($825 million).
