Cowboys Trade Rumors: Jenkins for Draft Picks

The Dallas Cowboys may be trading away cornerback Mike Jenkins, after the team drafted Morris Claiborne with the sixth pick in the NFL draft.

According to sources with Pro Football Talk, Jenkins is being shopped around the league.

Presumably, the Cowboys are looking for draft picks, with the second round underway later tonight.

Jenkins was a first round draft pick of the Cowboys in 2008, however has been plagued with injuries and inconsistent play on the field.

The Cowboys are looking to revamp their entire defensive secondary and traded up from the Number 14 pick to the Number 6 pick, giving up another second round pick, in order to get Claiborne.

Claiborne starred at LSU and will be joining the Cowboys' free agent acquisition Brandon Carr, who signed in the off season

The Cowboys also have cornerback in Orlando Scandrick giving the Cowboys healthy competition at the two starting cornerback spots.

The Cowboys now consider Jenkins expendable and may be looking to either get back into the second round, or just try to get the highest pick possible for Jenkins.
