Today Nike unveiled imagery on the new Nike LeBron 11, which is designed to protect LeBron James and his combination of power and speed.
According to Nike, the LeBron 11 has new Nike Hyperposite technology to provide protection, containment and responsiveness. It locks down LeBron's foot so he can glide and fly all over the court, plus has a combination of Lunarlon and Nike Zoom units for a soft, springy feel. The 11 is specifically "deconstructed to get James's foot much lower to the ground so he can feel the court."
As for the look? The number 11 represents "duality," as the number itself looks identical upside down and right side up. The inner tongue of the shoe highlights "XI" and spells out the number six, too. The sock liner graphic says "LeBron" when you look from one direction and "James" from the other.
So far there are two colorways of the LeBron 11 and they're "King's Pride" and "Terracotta Warrior." Here's more info on the two different styles, courtesy of Nike:
LEBRON 11 KING'S PRIDE colorway
James plays with fearlessness, determination and the heart of a lion. The King's Pride colorway draws inspiration from the lion - its dark loden upper color and the floral print on the collar lining reflect the pride of the wildlife.
LEBRON 11 TERRACOTTA WARRIOR colorway
James was impressed by the Terracotta Warrior Exhibition which he visited when he was in Xi'An, China, in 2011. The exhibit, plus James's playing style - which reflects a warrior with grit, confidence, hard work and determination - inspired the Terracotta Warrior colorway.
The design of the shoe is inspired by the Terracotta Warriors as we see them today - in neutral stone colors along with pop colors of purple/teal/red to represent how they were originally painted. The graphic texture on the upper articulates the linked, plated armor that the warriors wore. The special lining shank design graphic is drawn from the style of Bronze Age art, the era in which the Terracotta Warriors were made.
The King's Pride edition comes out on October 12, 2013 and the Terracotta Warrior edition will be available on October 1, 2013, in Greater China, and on November 27, 2013, in North America and the rest of the globe.
