The 2013 NFL Preseason concluded Thursday night with a perfect Seattle Seahawks team that racked up four wins in four weeks. However, it's only the preseason, they should try keeping that up in the regular season. Here are the top records in the NFL 2013 Preseason standings.
AFC EAST: New York Jets (3-1), New England Patriots (3-1)
The Jets at the top of the division? It must be the preseason. While many focused on the team's quarterback race, the Jets were focusing on winning games. They finished tied with the Patriots for the best record in the East and for most touchdowns. Surprisingly, the Jets also allowed 23 less points than the Patriots and they led the division in scoring. The question is, will they duplicate these stats in the regular season?
AFC North: Cincinnati Bengals (3-1), Cleveland Browns (3-1)
The surprises keep coming. Not only where the Browns at the top of the division, but the Pittsburgh Steelers, who have historically owned the division, finished 0-4. The Baltimore Ravens finished in third place with a 2-2 record, scoring the most points (109) and touchdowns (15) in their four preseason games.
AFC South: Houston Texans (3-1)
The Texans once again dominated the competition. They used their defense to win games, allowing only 67 points through four games. The standings look very accurate, for the most part. The Indianapolis Colts finished in second place, while the Jacksonville Jaguars took third place and the Tennessee Titans were last.
AFC West: Denver Broncos (2-2), Kansas City Chiefs (2-2)
The Broncos' defense stunk in the preseason, but it was enough to get them first place over the summer. However, if the Chief's defense, which only allowed 60 points (best in the AFC), is this serious during the regular season, then things will really be interesting in the West. The Chiefs also scored the most points. Can you really count on the Chiefs though? It's Peyton Manning quarterbacking for the Broncos. I'd place my money on a Manning any day.
NFC East: Washington Redskins (4-0)
The Redskins accompanied the Seahawks as the only two undefeated teams during the preseason. It's almost like the 2012 season never concluded as the Redskins offense overpowered opponents and their defense was stingy. They allowed the second least points (53) in the NFC.
NFC North: Detroit Lions (3-1)
Their running game might stink, but their defense was solid. This proves that with a great defense, any team can win games. The Green Bay Packers couldn't get any offense as they too continue to search for a decent running game. They finished 1-3 only scoring 37 over the summer.
NFC South: Carolina Panthers (3-1), New Orleans Saints (3-1)
Is this the year of the Newton? The Panthers showed they could hang, at least in the preseason. However, analysts like the Saints' chances as Coach Sean Payton is back on the sidelines.
NFC West: Seattle Seahawks (4-0)
The toughest division in football? The Seahawks were perfect, but they have too look over their shoulder as the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers finished the preseason 3-1. Though the Cardinals aren't expected to spend much time at the top of the standings, it will be interesting to see if they can disrupt the Seahawks' and 49ers' run this year as those two teams are expected to finish first and second.
