Josh Gordon Fantasy Football Sleeper For Cleveland Browns After Suspension Complete

The Cleveland Browns did not look all that great in their opening game against the Miami Dolphins, gaining just 291 total yards on the day, but the team has hope in the future, as they will get a boost from wideout Josh Gordon when he returns from a two game suspension for a failed drug test.

The best Browns receiver on Sunday was tight end Jordan Cameron and while that is good for fantasy owners, it was a bit troubling for quarterback Brandon Weeden, as he did not get much production from his two main receivers in Davone Bess and Greg Little and that makes the return of Gordon even more crucial. Last season Gordon was the best big play threat for the Browns and without him on the field they feel a bit one dimensional.

Offensive coordinator Norv Turner and head coach Rob Chudzinski like using the tight end in the offense and when Gordon returns, it could be a boost for both him and Cameron. The athletic tight end made a team high nine catches for 108 yards and on touchdowns, while Bess was second with five catches for 47 yards, while Little added four catches for 26 yards in the game. Gordon was suspended for failing a drug tests and now he will be back after the team plays the Ravens next week.

Last season Gordon was targeted more times than any receiver on the Browns and he ended up with 50 catches for over 800 yards and five touchdowns and he averaged over 16 yards per catch, one of the best totals in the league. Weeden will continue to target him when he comes back and if Richardson can get going in the running game by Week 3, the offense should be more productive than it was against the Dolphins in the loss on Sunday. Gordon is owned in most leagues, but he should be considered a prime sleeper for the rest of the season and he could make a difference on third downs as well.

Gordon is a speedy receiver and he will give another weapon for Weeden to use as he develops in his second year with the team. Cameron will continue to be a solid target and with teams like the Chiefs, Bills, Lions and Ravens coming up on the schedule, the team should be able to work in the passing game more efficiently.
