Los Angeles Lakers Rumors: Kobe Bryant Says He Tried To 'Pull The Tendon Up' Before Shooting Free-Throws After Achilles Injury

When Los Angeles Lakers guard Kobe Bryant went down with an ACL tear against the Golden State Warriors last April, many wondered what made him continue on to shoot those free-throws instead of immediately heading towards the locker room.

Well Bryant has recently gave some more insight about what was going on through his mind at the moment while speaking with Nike employees at the apparel manufacturer's Oregon headquarters on Friday.

"When I first did it right there I was trying to feel if the tendon is there or if it's gone" Bryant recalled in comments recorded by Nike. "I realized it wasn't there. I was literally trying to pull the tendon up so hopefully I could walk and kind of hobble through the last two and a half minutes and try to play."

Bryant has shattered all expectations in his recovery timetable particularly because of medical innovations, however, an exact date for his return to the floor has still yet to made known.

A couple days ago Bryant himself said he remains uncertain if he'll even be available to suit up by the season opener.

"I don't know [whether] that means I'll start the season - I hope so," Bryant said in a recent interview to Time Out Dubai to promote his upcoming trip there later this month to host a basketball clinic.

Bryant also spoke on the progress he's made during the offseason in regards to his Achilles, stating:

"I'm feeling pretty good,'" Bryant said, 'stronger than I was. I'm ahead of [my recovery] schedule."

The Lakers start their season Oct. 29 against the Los Angeles Clippers, giving Bryant a limited time of seven more weeks to rehab his Achilles.
