The Hurricanes already won one big matchup with a Florida team after beating the Gators and later in the season they will play the Seminoles in another in-state matchup. The Hurricanes are playing Wake Forest at home the following week and then Florida State comes next on the road and the team is ranked number eight right now and could be a sleeper national championship contender depending on how things play out in the ACC with Clemson.
Ranked at number 15, the Hurricanes also could be a factor in the ACC and the biggest game coming on the schedule is that matchup against Florida State, which could dictate the conference. Virginia Tech comes next at home and that is always a tough matchup and then the team has to deal with two of three games on the road to finish the season, with Duke coming after the Hokies game and then the team hosts Virginia next. The last game of the season is against Pitt on the road and could have conference, national and BCS implications.
Last week the team demolished Savannah State 77-7 and that came after wins over Florida and Florida Atlantic and the team has been excellent on offense, averaging over 450 yards per game. The team is ranked 30th in rushing and 70th in passing yards and the team is scoring quite a bit, with over 40 points scored per game and the defense has been excellent as well, ranking seventh with under 10 points per game allowed.
