Rob Gronkowski Fantasy Football: Cleared To Play Against NY Jets Week 7 For Patriots As Tight End Prime Starting Option

Finally fantasy owners can breathe easy, as New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski was cleared to play after weeks and days of speculation about his status and his agent saying he was not yet cleared to play in a game.

According to Pro Football Talk, Gronk has been cleared by doctors to play and while that doesn't mean Bill Belichick will be starting him against the Jets Sunday, it is welcome news for fantasy owners and Pats fans. The tight end has been dealing with recovering from forearm and back surgery this offseason and while he was practicing, he had not been yet cleared to get onto the field on Sunday's, but now he will be all set to go, making fantasy owners very happy.

The New England Patriots won on Sunday against the New Orleans Saints in stunning fashion after a last-second touchdown pass by Tom Brady and once again, the team did it without tight end Rob Gronkowski, who was off the field while still coming back from multiple surgeries and now reports have come out that some of his teammates are frustrated with his progress.

According to ESPN.com, Gronkowski has continued to practice with the team but has not been able to get onto the field, with Ed Werder saying sources reported that there is tension in the locker room because of that fact. The team publically has said they support Gronkowski, but now reports have continued to come out about the locker room and why Gronkowski cannot get back onto the field despite "dominating" on the practice field.

Gronkowski has been missing from the offense and it has been noticeable, but Tom Brady was able to overcome that on Sunday and now it still is in question when Gronk will actually be back on the field. Reports have said that his family wants to ensure he is 100 percent healthy so that he does not get injured again and after getting multiple surgeries on his arm and also on his back, putting him in a tough position to decide what to do.

The reason teammates have been so peeved is because of how well he looks in practice and in workouts and then not translating it to the field. The team will be playing the New York Jets on the road next in Week 7.

From the report:

"All I can say is Robbie is dying to play. He wants to get out there," Diane Gronkowski told Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald on Sunday. "He's doing what he has to do to get back playing. He doesn't like it. He wants to play. It really bothers him that he's not playing."
