The Red Sox will hear a lot of hype behind Michael Wacha. On their corner, the Red Sox have the 6' 6", emotional hurler, weighing in at 235 pounds, John Lackey. More stats? Lackey surrendered more runs in his first postseason start against the Tampa Bay Rays than Wacha has in his three playoff starts combined. Okay, one more fact, when Lackey won his only World Series ring in 2002, Wacha was not even a teenager.

Maybe Wacha can provide a Lackey-like performance for the Cardinals. Wait, that might not be a good thing. There was a lot of hype behind Lackey because of his overall 2002 playoff performance. In three starts and other appearances, Lackey went 2-0 with a 2.42 ERA. However, the San Francisco Giants jumped on him in his first ever World Series start, getting three earned runs off Lackey in his five innings pitched. Lackey escaped with the no-decision and the Los Angeles Angels went on to lose that game.

The Cardinals cannot lose Game 2, but like Wacha, who has yet to lose in 2013, Lackey has was both of his starts in the 2013 MLB Playoffs. In fact, it was Lackey who outpitched a Justin Verlander who was dealing in Game 3 of the ALCS. All Lackey needed in that game was a solo home run from Mike Napoli. When he exited in the seventh inning, Lackey was upset, but the trustworthy Red Sox's bullpen took over and handled business.

The Lackey on the mound for Game 3 is the Lackey the Red Sox wanted on the mound these past few years. However, he is pitching his best in a Red Sox uniform at the right time of the year. However, Wacha has consistently pitched dominant baseball in the playoffs. Can Lackey repeat another shutout performance in Game 2?
