The Saints will receive a lot of coverage today as the Saints face the young Jets' team that is off to a 4-4 start this season. With Geno Smith taking a hold of the quarterback position, the Jets are surprisingly a dangerous team. They have beaten the Saints' divisional foe, Atlanta Falcons, showing that they can compete against teams packed with veterans and talent.
However, the Falcons are struggling this season as the Saints are off to a great start at the halfway point of the 2013 season. They are 6-1, suffering their only loss of the season at the hands of the Jets' foe, the New England Patriots.
Drew Brees and the Saints offense carry this team. Brees has his favorite target, Jimmy Graham, who has 40 receptions for 630 yards and eight touchdowns through the first seven games of the season. Darren Sproles is a dangerous asset as the running back is great receiving the ball, totaling the second most receiving yards and catches, behind Graham, with 36 receptions, 366 yards and a touchdown.
Brees, as always, whether they are winning or losing, is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. He has thrown for 2,290 yards with 19 touchdowns. The Saints' offense is also one of the NFL's best, averaging 28 points, 396 total yards and 310 passing yards per game. With a balanced defense that only allows 17 points per game, the Saints will be a tough matchup for the Jets in Week 8.
The Saints are 6-1, searching for their seventh win of the season and looking to widen the gap in the NFC South. They have a two-game lead over the Carolina Panthers who are 4-3 this season and surprisingly, in second place in the division.
Can they beat the Jets? Better yet, by how many points will the Saints beat the Jets?
