Brian Wilson and his beard are free agents right now after spending last season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and after the Yankees passed, it looks like the reliever is getting some heavy interest from the Detroit Tigers, a team that lacked a closer last season and had issues in the bullpen and he could now be the new man to close out games for Brad Ausmus.
According to Hardball Talk, the two sides are in "serious" talks about Wilson coming to Detroit and that would be a great move for the team as they try to rebuild the bullpen. The report says that Ausmus and Wilson met together with Wilson's agent and that he could sign with the team soon. Wilson was very solid during the back stretch for the Dodgers and during the playoffs, as he had eight strikeouts and had six innings of no run ball and he also went 2-1 with a sub 0.70 ERA during the season in 13. innings and it looks like he is all the way back from Tommy John surgery.
Wilson came into prominence with the San Francisco Giants and won a championship there and now he has had interest from a number of teams, including the Seattle Mariners, LA Angels, Texas Rangers, Cleveland Indians and now the Tigers can be added to that list as well.
